The rules of Voice Island

Ground Rules

Ten chapters. Read them before you connect — ignorance is not a defense. Break one and an admin will say hello. Break it again and the admin will say goodbye.

01 General Conduct

  • Respect everyone. Harassment, slurs, or targeted bullying is an immediate ban.
  • No cheating, exploiting, or modified clients — zero tolerance.
  • Use English in global chat so staff can moderate effectively.
  • All disputes go through a ticket — not in-game chat.
  • Ignorance of the rules is not a defense — by joining, you accept them.

02 Discord Conduct

  • No NSFW content anywhere — text, images, links, voice.
  • No doxxing or sharing personal information about other members.
  • No advertising other servers, communities, or paid services.
  • No DM harassment between members — blocked users who continue contact via alts will be banned.
  • Voice channel etiquette: no mic spam, soundboards, ear-rape, or playing music without consent.
  • Suggestions and feedback go in #suggestions, not in DMs to staff.

03 Combat

  • KOS (Kill On Sight) is allowed — this is a survival game.
  • Blocking water sources or food spawns to starve players is griefing.
  • Combat logging is banned — intentionally disconnecting to avoid death.
  • Combat log enforcement is contextual: low HP at disconnect, repeated pattern, witnesses, timestamp. If no clear intent, no ban — benefit of the doubt to the player.
  • Crashes and bug-related deaths cannot be reversed — server logs can't distinguish a crash from a logout. Lost progress is part of Early Access.
  • In-game proximity voice is part of combat — taunting is fine, slurs and harassment are not (Rule 01 still applies).
Third Partying

Interfering in an active fight between other players or groups is not allowed. You must wait until the fight has clearly ended before engaging either side.

Species Exceptions · Deinosuchus

A Deinosuchus in water may attack land players at riverbanks or lakeshores even if those players are in a fight — its natural ambush role.

Allowed: Deino in the SAME pack (max 2) may coordinate the ambush together.

Restrictions: Two Deino from outside the same pack may NOT coordinate. A Deino may NOT join another already attacking. Two Deino fighting each other — no third Deino may enter.

Species Exceptions · Herrerasaurus

A Herrerasaurus may third party an ongoing fight, but ONLY via its signature tree pounce mechanic. Walking up to an active fight on the ground and biting in is still third partying.

Species Exceptions · Nest Defense

Defending an active nest is not third partying. This applies to:

  • ·The nest owner
  • ·The nest owner's mate (paired in-game)
  • ·Same-species pack members grouped BEFORE the attack started

04 Packs & Grouping

  • Packs may not permanently block or camp nesting zones.
  • Pack size limits apply server-wide (see table below).
Mixpacking

Grouping with players of a DIFFERENT species to gain combat or hunting advantage. Banned even if your pack is under the limit.

  • ·Coordinating cross-species to corner, ambush, or kill a target
  • ·"Friendly" cross-species pairs that fight side-by-side
  • ·Using another species as bait, lookout, or callout
  • ·Two species traveling together as a hunting party
Overpacking

Grouping with MORE players of your OWN species than the posted limit. Banned regardless of intent.

  • ·Two same-species packs combining into one super-pack
  • ·A 4th Rex joining a full 2-Rex group "just to socialize" while staying within fighting distance

Note: If overpacking happens during an active fight, both Rule 03 (third partying) AND Rule 04 apply. Admins cite the more severe violation — typically overpacking.

Cross-Species Social Contact

Brief social interaction IS permitted:

  • ·Herbi + Herbi · Carni + Carni · Herbi + Carni
  • ·May NOT hunt together or fight together
  • ·Must NOT travel as a group for extended periods
  • ·Temporary gatherings must end within 10 minutes
  • ·If attacked during a gathering, both species must disengage and flee separately

05 Nests

Active Nest Definition

A nest is "active" when eggs have been laid AND the owner has been online within a reasonable recent window (admin discretion — server logs are checked).

  • Active nests may not be raided while the owner is offline.
  • Empty, unattended nests (no eggs) are fair game.
  • Nests of players offline for extended periods revert to fair game — admins determine cutoff per dispute.
  • Camping an active nest waiting for the owner is allowed — counts as engagement, owner + mate + pre-existing pack may defend. No additional third parties allowed.
  • Defending an active nest is not third partying — see Rule 03 for who qualifies.
  • Nest disputes → open a ticket, admins verify via server logs.

06 Griefing & Exploitative Play

The following are bannable regardless of whether they fit other rules:

  • Training large predators (Rex, Deino, Allo, etc.) into low-tier feeding zones or AI hunt areas to grief.
  • Deliberately wasting other players' food, water, or mate cooldowns.
  • Disrupting mating animations between consenting players.
  • Repeatedly trolling new players in starter areas.
  • Exploiting map terrain (under-map, stuck spots, geometry abuse).
  • Using any in-game bug for advantage — report bugs via ticket instead.
  • AFK in dangerous areas to bait/trap players is allowed; AFK in safe areas to occupy spawns is griefing.

07 External Coordination & Fair Play

Information gained outside the game is off-limits for in-game advantage.

  • Stream sniping (watching a player's live stream to track them in-game) is banned.
  • Metagaming (using #clips, #general, Discord, or external voice to locate a specific player) is banned.
  • Discord-coordinated packs exceeding in-game limits are banned — overpacking by another name (Rule 04).
  • Sharing real-time player locations in public channels during an active fight is banned.
  • Past events (clips, screenshots, after-action discussion) are fine — live coordination is not.

08 Accounts & Identity

  • One Steam account per player — no alts to bypass pack limits, bans, or to mixpack with yourself.
  • Account sharing is discouraged; the owner is responsible for ALL violations by anyone using their account.
  • In-game character names must be readable, non-offensive, and not impersonate staff or other players.
  • No slurs, sexual content, or unicode abuse in character names.
  • Discord display name must match or be linkable to your Steam in-game name.

09 Admins

  • Admin decisions are final.
  • Admins will not spawn items or teleport players for personal gain.
  • Admins will not participate in disputes involving their own gameplay — another admin handles it.
  • Former staff returning may NOT review cases they decided during their previous tenure.
  • All bans are logged internally and reviewed by the admin team.
  • Report admin abuse via ticket to the Owner.

10 Community

  • Server events are announced 24 hours in advance in #announcements.
  • Suggestions go in #suggestions.
  • Bug reports → open a ticket under "General Support".
  • Have fun — it's a game.
Enforcement
